Chicago Weather Late Update: Election Day Rain Chances Climb Back to 69 Percent, and Wednesday's Soak Jumps to 84 Percent (Chicago Windy City News)

Sunday is closing mild and quiet — the station's live Open-Meteo feed read 56.5 degrees late Sunday evening, feeling like 54.6, after a high of 58.7 — but the late update turns the rest of the week wetter than the evening feed had it. Election Day's rain chance has climbed back to 69 percent, and Wednesday's has jumped to 84 percent, the highest mark of the week by a wide margin.

Monday is still the dry window, and it matters: it is the last day of early voting, and the feed holds it mostly dry at a high of 59.7 with a rain chance of just 10 percent. If you are voting or traveling Monday, the weather is not your problem. Tuesday is a different story — Election Day itself now carries a high near 68.7 with rain likely through the voting day, so precinct trips after work may want a jacket and a few extra minutes.

Wednesday is the week's main event. Rain chances at 84 percent with a high of 62.6 make it the soak the earlier forecasts kept circling, and it arrives the morning after the election, when a lot of Chicago will be moving again. Behind it, the pattern finally breaks: Thursday turns cooler and mostly dry at 53 with a 14 percent rain chance, and Friday and Saturday settle into the low 50s with rain chances at 16 and 10 percent.

The short version for the week: get the outdoor errands done Monday, plan around rain on Election Day, and expect Wednesday to be genuinely wet before a cooler, drier finish. The desk will update the feed again with the Monday morning cycle, when any further shift in the Tuesday-Wednesday rain window will matter most.
