Crash Leaves 8 Hurt on Chicago's South Side After an SUV Ran a Signal on Ashland Avenue, Police Say
A three-vehicle crash a little after midnight in the 5400 block of South Ashland Avenue sent eight people to hospitals — six in fair condition and two in serious condition — after a Dodge SUV failed to stop at a traffic signal, Chicago police said.

Eight people were hospitalized early Sunday after a three-vehicle crash on Chicago's South Side, according to the Chicago Police Department. Officers responded a little after midnight to the scene in the 5400 block of South Ashland Avenue.
Police said a Dodge SUV traveling northbound failed to stop at a traffic signal and struck a Chevy truck and a Ford sedan. The SUV held six people, and all six were taken to area hospitals and listed in fair condition. The two people in the Chevy truck were also hospitalized, in serious condition. The only person in the Ford sedan refused medical services, police said.
Investigators had not yet settled the basics of the crash by the time police described it. Police said it was unclear who was driving the SUV and whether any citations would be issued, and the investigation is continuing.
