Blue Line Riders: Northbound Trains Single-Track Between LaSalle and Grand Late Monday Night
From 11 p.m. Monday to 4 a.m. Tuesday, northbound Blue Line riders at Jackson, Monroe, Washington and Clark/Lake board from the southbound side while crews remove the old Monroe escalator, the CTA says.

Late-night Blue Line riders get a platform change on Monday night. The Chicago Transit Authority says a single track will be in effect for northbound trains between the LaSalle and Grand stations from 11 p.m. Monday, November 2 until 4 a.m. Tuesday, while crews remove the old escalator at the Monroe station in the Dearborn Street subway.
During those hours, northbound customers at Jackson, Monroe, Washington and Clark/Lake must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform. The CTA advises riders to allow extra travel time and to listen for operator announcements, since each train's direction will be announced as it arrives — on a single-track stretch, the platform side alone will not tell riders which way a train is going.
Monday also closes out the weekend's larger disruption: the Blue Line suspension between Clark/Lake and UIC-Halsted for track replacement in the south end of the subway ended at 4 a.m. Monday, restoring through service. One street-level holdover remains from the same notice — the westbound lanes of the Division Street Bridge, between Halsted and Hooker, stay closed to all traffic until 5 p.m. Friday, November 6 for repair work.
