Chicago Fire Win 4-2 at Colorado: Bamba Scores Twice and Lewandowski Breaks the Tie in the 74th Minute
The Chicago Fire twice came from behind and then pulled away late in Commerce City on Saturday night, beating the Colorado Rapids 4-2 on Jonathan Bamba's brace, Robert Lewandowski's 74th-minute tiebreaker and Puso Dithejane's late insurance goal in the regular season's penultimate round.

The Chicago Fire won a six-goal game on the road on Saturday night, beating the Colorado Rapids 4-2 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City. Morgan Whittaker put Colorado ahead in the 22nd minute, and Jonathan Bamba leveled the match in the 41st, sending the teams in tied 1-1.
Bamba scored again in the 56th minute to give Chicago its first lead, off a pass from Jonathan Dean, but Paxten Aaronson answered for Colorado two minutes later to make it 2-2. The match turned on the Fire's bench: second-half substitute Robert Lewandowski scored the tiebreaking goal in the 74th minute off a pass from Philip Zinckernagel, eluding three defenders for his first goal in nine matches, according to the game reports.
Lewandowski then turned provider, assisting Puso Dithejane - another second-half substitute - for the insurance goal in the 88th minute. Chicago finished with a 6-4 edge in shots on target. Colorado's Morgan Whittaker and Aaronson scored off assists from Georgi Minoungou, who set up both Rapids goals.
The Fire (16-10-7, 55 points) had already clinched a playoff spot two weeks ago, and the win keeps them in fourth place in the Eastern Conference heading into Decision Day on November 7, in a strong position to secure home-field advantage in a first-round playoff series, with the Fire unbeaten in three. Colorado (12-14-7, 43 points) saw its 10-match home unbeaten streak snapped.
