No CPS Classes Monday or Tuesday: Parent-Teacher Conferences First, Then Election Day
Chicago Public Schools students have two days out of class back to back — Monday, November 2 is a parent-teacher conference day with Quarter 1 report-card pick-up, and Tuesday is a district holiday for Election Day.

Chicago Public Schools families start the week with an empty classroom calendar. Monday, November 2 is a Parent-Teacher Conference Day for both elementary and high schools across the district — no students attend — and Tuesday, November 3 is a full district holiday for the general election, observed in lieu of Veterans Day, according to the CPS 2026-27 calendar.
Monday is a working day for parents, not just a day off. Schools use the conference day for families to meet teachers and collect first-quarter report cards — Andrew Carnegie Elementary on the South Side, for example, lists Quarter 1 Report Card Pick-up alongside its State of the School address from 3 to 4 p.m. on Monday, and schools across the city have posted State of the School sessions through the day. Families should check their own school's posted times, since conference and address schedules are set building by building.
Classes resume Wednesday, but November stays broken up: Wednesday, November 11 is a Professional Development Day with no students, and Thanksgiving break runs the full week of November 23 to 27. For voting parents, the two-day pause lands conveniently — Monday's conference day and Tuesday's holiday both leave room in the day to reach a polling place.
