Halloween Weekend in Chicago: At Least 13 People Shot, Three of Them Killed, Police Say
The shootings ran from Mayfair to Chicago Lawn between Friday night and Sunday morning, leaving two teenagers among the wounded — and a separate fatal shooting in Oak Park added to the Chicago-area toll.

At least 13 people were shot and three of them killed in shootings across Chicago over the Halloween weekend, according to Chicago police accounts compiled in reporting published Sunday. Several other victims were left critically injured, and a separate fatal shooting in suburban Oak Park — confirmed by Oak Park police — added one more death to the wider Chicago-area toll.
The weekend's first killing came Friday night in Mayfair, where a 35-year-old man was fatally shot during an argument shortly before 11:30 p.m.; police reported a person of interest taken into custody and a firearm recovered. Just after 12:20 a.m. Saturday, a 19-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy were critically wounded near East 50th Place and South Vincennes Avenue in Washington Park — the older victim shot in the head and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, the teenager shot in the stomach and taken to Comer Children's Hospital, both in critical condition. On Saturday evening, in the 3400 block of West Ogden Avenue in North Lawndale, two people got out of a vehicle and opened fire on three people standing on a sidewalk, police said: a 29-year-old man was killed, a 23-year-old man was hospitalized in critical condition, and a 35-year-old woman was in good condition.
Around 2 a.m. Sunday, a 41-year-old man was fatally shot during an argument in the 6500 block of South Francisco Avenue in Chicago Lawn; he drove himself to Holy Cross Hospital, where he died, police said. Later Sunday morning, a 15-year-old was wounded in the 5400 block of West Fulton Street in Austin and was expected to recover. In Oak Park, shortly after midnight Sunday, a woman was fatally shot and investigators recovered approximately 29 shell casings from the scene, Oak Park police said; the circumstances remained under investigation. Police have released no victim names in the weekend's Chicago shootings, and investigations across the city remain ongoing, with details still coming from officials.
