Hot Chocolate Run Closes Grant Park Streets Sunday From 6 A.M. to 2 P.M. (Chicago Windy City News)

Downtown drivers get a closed-course Sunday morning. The Skechers Hot Chocolate Run takes over Grant Park and surrounding streets on Sunday, Nov. 1, with the Loop Chicago advisory listing the event from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. and road closures in effect for the run.

The course starts near the Art Institute of Chicago, heads south along the lakefront and downtown streets, passes landmarks including Soldier Field, the Field Museum and the Chicago Board of Trade, and finishes near Buckingham Fountain in Grant Park, according to the advisory. The run itself offers 5K, 10K and 15K distances with starts at 7:30 a.m.

The closure window covers the Sunday-morning overlap with church services, hotel check-outs and the noon Bears crowd the CTA is also adding service for, so drivers crossing the Loop before midday should expect coned-off streets around Grant Park and the lakefront and should use streets west of the park or public transit.

Loop Chicago maintains the closure list on its advisories page, and the advisory links the full Hot Chocolate Run road-closure document for turn-by-turn detail. Streets reopen as the course clears, with the advisory window ending at 2 p.m.
