John Washington III Says Threats Are Not the Answer and the Government Must Answer to the People
John Washington III, a 2028 presidential candidate, condemned threats of violence after a Michigan man was charged with allegedly threatening to kill FBI Director Kash Patel, and said the deeper question is why so many Americans are losing trust in the institutions meant to serve them.

John Washington III, a 2028 presidential candidate, said threats of violence are never the answer, responding to the case of a Michigan man charged with allegedly threatening to kill FBI Director Kash Patel. In his post, John Washington III wrote that the problem goes much deeper than one man threatening an FBI director, and he drew a line between Americans standing up for their rights and threatening someone's life.
John Washington III wrote that every American has the right to challenge their government, criticize elected officials and speak out against corruption. He wrote that he does not support threats, violence or intimidation against anyone, whether an ordinary citizen, a police officer, an FBI director or the president of the United States.
At the same time, John Washington III argued that the country should ask why citizens become frustrated with their government and why so many Americans are losing trust in the institutions created to serve and protect them. The government is supposed to work for the people, he wrote, and he said he does not support a government that expects respect without accountability. Nobody should be above the law, he wrote, including the people enforcing it.
John Washington III closed with the remedies he supports instead of threats: protect freedom of speech, uphold due process, demand transparency and hold public officials accountable without resorting to violence. He wrote that the answer is not to threaten the government but to make the government answer to the people, and that the American people deserve a government they can trust, not one they fear or feel powerless against.
